ALHA

The Lagos State Agricultural Land Holdings Authority was established via an edict for the purpose of granting and allocating by way of sublease, agricultural land holdings to successful applicants.

Lands being allocated are those zoned for agricultural purposes relative to the Regional Plan of the Lagos State Government. This process further culminated in creation of the Agricultural Estate Development Scheme, which comprises the land resources represented diagrammatically below.

Summarily the edict is such that supports accelerated development of Agriculture in Lagos State through allocation of land holdings to qualified applicants for agricultural purposes only. It further positions the agency to assist qualified applicants in enhancing development and effective usage of lands allocated.

Duties of the Authority

The agency allocates land for agricultural purposes within Lagos State or other locations where the state has land holdings. Such allocation shall be from available acreage in her ‘Land Bank’, generally classified as, reserved & available, or reserved & un-available (acquisition is done if land is so required).

This delineation may further be categorized as Internal (i.e. Land Holdings within Lagos State) or External (i.e. Land Holdings outside Lagos State). These holdings support the vision of the Ministry of Agriculture – towards becoming major contributor to sustainable economic growth and social well-being in Lagos State Nigeria.
